Weekend vibes were interrupted late Saturday afternoon when residents in the East Richmond Heights neighborhood began hearing a helicopter along with a voice over a loudspeaker instructing someone to "come out of the house."

According to Jimmy Lee, Public Information Officer for the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of shots fired and arrested one person for possession of ammunition.

"On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at about 4:42 p.m., deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a report of possible shots fired at a residence on the 6000 block of Ralston Avenue," Lee said. "Deputies responded and set up a perimeter. All occupants exited the home. Deputies later cleared the home but were unable to locate any weapons or anyone who was injured. One person was arrested for a felon in possession of ammunition."

On social media, neighbors voiced their concerns, wondering what had drawn police and a helicopter to their normally quiet section of the city.

"What's going on? A helicopter is over the Adams area, and the sheriff is saying come out with your hands up and weapons down," a neighbor asked on NextDoor, drawing several responses from others wondering the same.

By 6 p.m., the scene was cleared, and the helicopter had gone, leaving neighbors relieved.

"I was at Mira Vista dog park and saw and heard the helicopter circling, first the park and then north and west of the park. It was really loud! Glad to hear they got who they were looking for," a neighbor wrote.
