San Pablo Police pursuit leads to Richmond collision, injuring two
A stolen vehicle pursuit through San Pablo and Richmond on Saturday evening ended in a collision that left two people injured and a suspect in custody, according to authorities.
San Pablo Police Public Information Officer Peggy Chou said San Pablo officers attempted a traffic stop on a stolen Honda at approximately 6:04 p.m. in the 13200 block of San Pablo Avenue. The driver, later identified as Claire Williamson, 34, of San Francisco, fled, prompting a pursuit through city streets and highways.
“During the course of the pursuit, the driver struck two San Pablo Police vehicles and multiple parked vehicles in the 500 block of 44th Street in Richmond and continued to flee from officers," Chou said in a statement.
The pursuit ended when the Honda collided with a Toyota at 30th Street and Barrett Avenue in Richmond.
“Following this collision, the driver attempted to flee from the scene on foot, where she was taken into custody by pursuing officers,” Chou said. “She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.”
A passenger in the Toyota, an adult male, sustained significant injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The vehicle’s driver, also an adult male, suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Both occupants of the Toyota are reported to be in stable condition and are expected to survive, according to authorities.
Williamson, who has three outstanding warrants, according to the San Pablo Police, faces multiple charges, including vehicle theft, felony evading, felony hit-and-run, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Richmond Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Donald Patchin said Richmond officers also responded to the collision.
“The San Pablo Police Department was pursuing one of the vehicles involved. A two-vehicle collision occurred,” Patchin said.
Hours later, at approximately 8:36 p.m., Richmond police responded to another collision at Barrett Avenue and Swans Way.
“This collision involved a motorcycle striking a vehicle,” Patchin said. “Two riders on the motorcycle sustained major injuries, while the occupants of the vehicle were uninjured.”
Both incidents remain under investigation by the Richmond Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
