Richmond police investigate homicide on Lancaster Drive

Oakland resident Myron Smith has been identified as the Lancaster Drive victim.

Police are investigating Richmond's second homicide of the year after one person died in a Lancaster Drive shooting on Tuesday night.

Richmond police responded to a ShotSpotter activation at 10:56 p.m. in the 2300 block of Lancaster Drive and located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, said Richmond Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Donald Patchin.

“Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene. RPD Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. There have not been any arrests, and the suspect(s) are outstanding,” Patchin said.

On January 17, Richmond resident Charles Harvey became the city's first homicide of the year.

The investigation is in its early stages, according to Patchin, who said anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Hoffman at 510-621-1755.

The Richmond Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 2300 block of Lancaster. Drive on Tuesday, February 6, at 10:56 p.m.
