A 74-year-old man was taken into custody on Friday, November 15, following a shooting on Virginia Avenue, as reported by the Richmond Police Department.

A 74-year-old man was arrested on Friday, November 15, after a shooting on Virginia Avenue, according to the Richmond Police Department. Benjamin Franklin Wallace was taken into custody on charges of assault with a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

Richmond Police said officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1900 block of Virginia Avenue at 6:56 p.m.

Public Information Officer Lt. Donald Patchin said officers located a victim suffering from non-life-threatening injuries from an apparent gunshot wound.

“The incident is still currently under investigation by RPD detectives," Patchin said.

According to the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff booking log, Wallace is currently in custody.
