Richmond man held in Lincoln Avenue homicide
Richmond police arrested a 44-year-old Richmond man suspected of murder early Wednesday morning.
Lt. Donald Patchin said Richmond Police dispatch received calls of shots fired inside a home in the 1300 block of Lincoln Ave. on August 7 at 1:18 a.m.
“Officers responded and located a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside the residence. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” Patchin said.
According to police, an argument between two residents of the home escalated when one, identified as Paul Ballenger, retrieved a firearm.
“Ballenger then fired at least one round at the victim, striking him,” Patchin said. “Ballenger was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He was booked into the Richmond City Jail on one count of murder.
The victim’s identity is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.
Wednesday’s homicide marks Richmond’s 10th of the year.
