Police seek help identifying Richmond Art Center donation box thief
Police released a video of the suspect, who can be seen running out of the art center carrying a donation box stolen from the Richmond Art Center.

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who stole a donation box from the Richmond Art Center Thursday.

Police released a video of the suspect, who can be seen running out of the art center carrying the donation box and escaping on a bike.

“Suspect rode off on a bright green bicycle with a compartment box attached to the back of the bicycle,” police said.

Police said the thief wore a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and dark shoes. The suspect was last seen traveling westbound on Barrett Avenue towards Richmond Parkway at 12:29 p.m. on March 7.

The Richmond Art Center said the box is a light blue pedestal with a clear plastic vitrine on top in a post on social media asking for the box to be returned.

The art center said their hearts go out to the person who needed it and has requested donations to help purchase a new donation box.

“Cash donations from visitors to our galleries provide vital unrestricted funding that supports our exhibition program each year,” the center said.
