A family dispute reportedly turned violent Thursday night, leaving one person injured and another in custody, Richmond police said.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 9:06 p.m. in the 500 block of S. 26th Street on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Upon arrival, they found a victim suffering from several deep lacerations, according to Richmond Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Donald Patchin.

“The suspect was also located on the scene and taken into custody,” Patchin said. “The incident appears to stem from an argument among family members, and there is no current threat to public safety.”

Police said the victim was transported to a local trauma center and is expected to survive.
