The Richmond Burrito Trail stopped at La Lupita Mexican Eatery for a porky Super Carnitas Burrito. La Lupita is a taqueria tucked between a UPS Store and Mountain Mike’s Pizza in the small retail cluster at Marina Bay Parkway and Meeker Avenue.

La Lupita serves a smallish but respectable Mission-style burrito. The juicy pork-centric slab was filled with lots and lots of carnitas, along with rice, pico de gallo, refried beans, sour cream, cheese, and a small amount of guacamole.

The 634-gram burrito was well proportioned, with almost every bite filled with carnitas and a good mix of ingredients, which we find much preferable to big globs of rice, beans, or sour cream.

The veggie burrito companion was tasty, with a well-grilled tortilla. We wished the Carnitas Burrito had spent a little more time on the grill.

The two burritos came with tasty chips that might be made in-house and salsa for $27.98.

The restaurant offers a sizable dining room with plenty of tables for eat-in diners. According to  La Lupita’s website, they serve classic authentic Mexican cuisine like tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, nachos, and grilled chorizo. They boast plenty of vegetarian and seafood options and an array of combo meals to choose from. The establishment wasn't busy, with only a few couples enjoying lunch when we arrived.

The off-freeway strip mall also offers a little taste of Walnut Creek, with a drive-thru Starbucks, a Quiznos sandwich shop, CVS, and plenty of parking.
