Richmond police are investigating a shooting that left multiple homes and vehicles damaged Saturday afternoon, though no injuries were reported.

Officers responded around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, to a ShotSpotter activation near South 19th Street and Potrero Avenue, according to Lt. Donald Patchin, Chief of Staff for the Richmond Police Department.

“They located a shooting scene (bullet casings), and several vehicles and homes were struck by gunfire. It appears the vehicles and homes that were struck were not the intended targets. Luckily, no one was struck by the gunfire,” Patchin said.

According to police radio traffic, the city's gunshot detection system recorded approximately 35 gunshots. Officers recovered multiple shell casings of varying calibers at the scene, and three vehicles were reportedly connected to the shooters.
