Dollar Tree store coming to Richmond
Renovations have begun on what will become a new Dollar Tree store at the corner of San Pablo and Barrett Avenues, ending neighborhood speculation as to the future of the property, which has been vacant since 2019.
The retail project, which sits directly behind the numerous single-family homes that line McLaughlin Street, was approved by the planning commission in January 2022 and almost immediately appealed by the Richmond Heights Neighborhood Council, which had several concerns about it.
A hearing was held in March of 2022, and the matter was resolved with several conditions, including that delivery trucks must leave the site by 9 p.m., the store must close by 8 p.m., signage will be installed to minimize traffic onto adjacent neighborhood streets, and an analysis focused on studying traffic safety concerns on the segment of San Pablo Avenue adjacent to the project site will be conducted.
The 13,500 sq ft retail space was previously occupied by Car Hop, owned by Interstate Auto Group Inc, and had also been home to several auto dealerships.
