Local artists will open their studios to the public this weekend, providing an opportunity to share their work and the space in which it is created with public members at various Richmond locations.

This weekend, 42 artists’ works will be displayed in various city locations. Richmond’s Open Studio event is an all-volunteer project organized by the Visual Artists of Richmond.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 18 artists at three partner sites will welcome visitors. The sites include Richmond Art Center, NIAD Art Center, and Artifact Gallery, and 30 additional artists will open their studios to the public.

On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 30 artists will open their studios again, allowing visitors to view their work.

Maps, both printed and online, will be available, providing directions to each art studio.

Visual artist and volunteer Rebeca Garcia-Gonzalez said the event is a great way to connect artists with local art lovers.

“The Visual Artists of Richmond is proud to offer local artists--with and without a studio- a way to meet art lovers living in this part of the East Bay. We are excited that almost fifty artists trusted us enough to register, and we are lucky to have the support of our partners and sponsors,” Garcia-Gonzalez said.
